Our Story
When we discuss the concepts of "sustainability" and "eco-friendliness," it's vital to acknowledge the enduring crafts that have existed in harmony with nature for centuries.
At StudioTehseen, we are dedicated to honoring these time-honored handmade crafts, passed down through generations, by combining them with contemporary trends and styles.
While we specialize in various traditional handmade crafts such as Ajrak prints, Lucknawi Chikankari, Kantha, our standout offering is Ajrak. This unique, hand-block printing craft, rooted in Sindh (Pakistan), dates back to the Indus Valley Civilization (3000 BCE).
What sets this vibrant craft apart is its utilization of the resist printing method with natural vegetable and mineral dyes. It represents a beautiful amalgamation of natural elements such as the sun, rivers (water), animals, plants, mud (soil), and human craftsmanship, all working in harmony during its creation.
Regrettably, the Ajrak/Ajrakh craft has been in decline as modern, faster, and artificial chemical printing methods are replacing the natural techniques. However, we have taken on the responsibility of preserving these sustainable traditions and sharing them with future generations by blending old and new customs.
Through collaborative efforts with artisans, our brand strives to create high-quality, aesthetically appealing products that can introduce these traditional crafts to a global audience.
